The degree to which we feel connected to ourself, others, our community and the world around us deeply affects our sense of wellbeing. When we feel more connected to ourselves and our body, we feel more complete, at home and that we belong. Our connections to others reflects this and we feel more at ease in our relationships, able to speak our truth and communicate what we need. We feel connected to the world at large and ‘plugged in’ to something greater than ourselves, giving deep security and trust in life.
Our challenges in connecting can show up in many different ways. Do you experience any of the following?
- You feel disconnected from your body or emotions
- You experience a lack of trust in yourself or others
- You feel unable to sustain close relationships
- You experience anxiety in relationship
- You don’t feel connected to your partner
- ‘You experience emotional over-reactions with those closest to you
- You feel always on the outside of things, not accepted or good enough
- You tolerate and accept less than what you want in relationship
- You don’t feel able or worthy enough to express what you want and need
- You need acceptance and approval from others
- You feel that you are not loveable
- You feel limited and powerless to change what you experience in relationship
- You long for a deep experience of connection
The way we relate is often based on our earliest experiences of who we are in relation to the world and those around us and the conditioning we absorbed as we grew up. Our fundamental beliefs and patterns about who we are and how to relate are often deeply held in the subconscious, so that even if we know consciously what we want, it’s hard to change our experience. These beliefs can originate as far back as birth or even earlier and are deeply held in the body-mind. What you need is a way to bring these deep held patterns to light so you can transform them and move forward in your life.
