John Paul Mason -
Founder and Breathwork Facilitator

Breathing Journeys was founded by John Paul Mason from Edinburgh, Scotland.

As the founder of Breathing Journeys I have made the journey from being someone who has experienced the impacts of childhood sexual abuse in my adult life to a more whole human being.  In 2008 a period of significant personal upheaval and the obvious need to do things differently in my life led me to Breathwork. This led to an accelerated period of learning and growth and rapid personal change, with breathwork becoming the modality of choice for my own ongoing learning and spiritual development.

My principal aim in founding this organisation is to provide a simple, accessible and directly applicable format for spiritual practice that has practical benefit and relevance to people’s daily lives.  I was meditating for years but there always seemed to be a split between spiritual practice and the reality of everyday existence. Breathwork enabled me to bridge that gap. There is no need to “go on retreat”  – my everyday life is where it all happens.

The idea for Breathing Journeys was gradually formulated after many years of exploring various forms of healing and spiritual development while searching for solutions to my own struggles. This included a long history of meditation practice which started around age fifteen with later explorations into gestalt, group work, energy healing, shamanism, aura diagnosis, Family Constellations and finally breath work. I also had regular ongoing bodywork with someone I could really trust. Between 2010 and 2013 I completed my Diploma in Rebirthing Breathwork and I can safely say that without this, I would never have got to where I am now in my life. It enabled me to move beyond patterns of self sabotage to consciously create what I wanted in my life. Most importantly for me, it gave me back my sense of connection to God/Spirit/Life.

Breathing Journeys is the culmination of 5 years of intense spiritual exploration. It is my deepest heartfelt wish that those who partake in our programmes find answers to the questions that drive them deeper into life.

"John Paul is an intuitive and highly skilled practitioner, having done extensive training and personal development with breath work over the last 5 years. His sensitive and heart-centred approach provide the basis for creating a safe and compassionate space for exploration, healing and growth." Liz Pawley, Breathwork Coach, 2013
